Little Wonders Glendowie (previously Acorn Early Learning Centre) was established in 2004, and since then has been providing quality child care for families in and around Glendowie. With our wonderful location this has enabled Little Wonders to feed into 6 sought after neighbouring Primary Schools hence making the transition to School for our children seamless.
At Little Wonders Glendowie, we are committed to a vibrant partnership with our families and their needs. We value the connection between home and Centre and the diversity of the community in which we belong. We believe that learning has no end and it is our aim to instil a great love of learning in children and to capitalise on the intrinsic ability they have to learn at this young age.
We strive to provide children with rich, fulfilling experiences with a wide range of opportunities for learning and development and where children have the opportunity to choose their own play, in a happy, safe, exciting inviting and stimulating environment.
Our teaching team recognises children’s unique strengths, needs and talents and is committed to support, foster and scaffold each child in their cognitive learning, social, emotional, physical confidence, cultural and language development, as well as an emphasis on encouraging children to problem solve, develop self-help skills, respect others and their surroundings, to value mistakes as learning opportunities and to develop confidence and feel good about themselves as competent and confident learners.
The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, early childhood education managers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.
Early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school or centre is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self-review processes and use of its assessment information. You can read our centre’s ERO review here.
