What We Do
What We Do:
OUR PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
A philosophy is a very important thing to any childcare centre. It is an ever changing and evolving document that is created in partnership with local families, the children and teaching staff.
It exists to ensure everyone has the same focus and so that potential new families can understand our approach and how we get the most out of all our children.
- At Little Wonders Havelock North we believe every child is unique in terms of life experience, developmental readiness and cultural heritage, therefore we actively encourage partnerships between the Kindergarten and its families and community.
- We believe in the integration of learning and play, as children learn best by doing: therefore we provide many opportunities daily for children to actively explore the world around them in a beautiful, fun and safe environment.
- As a Kindergarten we place value on children’s creative endeavours and believe, with this foundation, our children become curious, well-rounded learners, able to make independent choices and act responsibly.
We offer two age appropriate spaces for our children aged 2 to 5 years old, most of our children transition from our sister site, Havelock North Baby & Child Centre.
Each room caters for the specific needs and interests of children at different stages and we ensure they have access to a rich variety of learning and play resources whenever they want! Each room displays the children's artwork to show how they are developing and growing their individual interests.
The teachers in this room pride themselves in providing an inspiring, fun, warm, calm, active and nurturing environment for our younger children aged 2 – 4 years old. We support the acquisition of skills for life-long learning, success and happiness by giving children access to resources such as construction, literacy and dramatic play areas.
The room provides areas of play that facilitate the development of emotional. social, physical and cognitive skills in an environment that caters for the needs, wants and interests of each child. The routine of the room supports the development of both individual and groups skills through activities that can be explored as an individual or as part of a group.
The Totara room caters for children from the age of 4 years to school age. The teachers in this room pride themselves in providing an inspiring, fun, warm, calm, active and nurturing environment that supports the acquisition of skills for life-long learning, success and happiness.
The activities we provide help support children acquire the skills they need in order to prepare for their transition into big school. The children are able to develop their social, emotional, physical, communication and cognitive skills through group and individual activities that are provided within the routine of the room and the resources we provide. Our outdoor area is very popular and consists of large play structures and two sandpits, as well as other exciting activities.
